What this tool does

An online dice roller gives each selected six-sided die an independent result from one through six, then adds the visible results together.

Dice simulation

Ways to use the online dice roller

Resolve tabletop game checks

Roll the required number of standard six-sided dice when physical dice are unavailable or the result needs to be shown on a shared screen.

Run classroom probability examples

Generate repeated dice outcomes for a lesson while keeping every individual die visible for comparison and discussion.

Choose game values and turn effects

Use standard six-sided dice for movement, random tables, or another agreed low-stakes game rule.

Troubleshooting

Setup limits and special game rules

The game uses a different type of die

When: A game calls for a die that is not a standard six-sided die.

Why: This tool deliberately models familiar six-sided dice only.

Try: Use a specialized tabletop roller for other shapes, custom symbols, or game-specific dice.

The game calls for more than six dice

When: A single game action needs seven or more dice at once.

Why: The on-screen tray is designed to keep up to six individual dice easy to read.

Try: Roll in smaller batches and combine the visible totals only when the game rules allow it.

A game rule changes how dice are counted

When: The rule calls for rerolls, exploding dice, keeping only certain dice, or counting successes.

Why: The roller shows ordinary independent dice and adds their face values; it does not interpret additional game rules.

Try: Apply the extra rule to the visible dice manually or use a specialized roller that clearly supports it.

Trust

How each dice result is generated

Every face has the same chance on an ordinary die

For each selected die, every whole number from one through six has equal probability.

  • Each die is generated independently, so one die does not change the result of another.
  • The displayed total is the sum of the individual face values shown on screen.
  • Earlier rolls do not make a future face more or less likely.

Recent rolls last for the current visit

Your selected dice, results, totals, and recent-roll list are not saved to a Random 42 account.

  • Random 42 does not provide a synchronized game log.
  • Copy history creates plain text for you to use where you choose.
  • Refreshing or closing the tool clears the current roll history.

Boundaries

What this dice roller does not model

This roller covers ordinary dice, not every game system

Standard six-sided dice, individual results, totals, and recent history are supported; other dice and specialized game mechanics require separate handling.

Review before you use the result

  • The tool is for casual games and learning activities, not regulated gambling or wagering.
  • It does not automatically handle rerolls, exploding dice, keep-highest rules, success thresholds, or custom symbols.
  • The recent-roll list is not a tamper-proof or independently verified record.
